The Walk

  • Arrive any time between 11a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Bring a picnic. There will be benches and tables
  • There’s plenty of parking space, but it’s off-road
  • Be prepared for rough ground and perhaps mud as well
  • Set off on your walk at your own pace. The route is through rolling Berkshire countryside and woodland and will be clearly marked. The shorter walk is a 1 mile stroll.
  • Children are welcome, and well-behaved dogs too.
  • Child buggies need to be robust
  • The route passes through woodland which is carpeted with bluebells in spring. They should be at their best around the time of the walk.
  • There’s a teddy bear hunt for the children………..
  • Enjoy a pint at the bar set up by the Queen’s Arms
  • And we hope there will be an ice cream van too
  • Transport can be arranged to the bluebell wood for anyone unable to walk. Please ask.
  • After the walk enjoy tea with cakes from the stall run by Stroke Care for Newbury & West Berkshire
  • Entry £15/car. A charge will be made for the teddy bear hunt, tea and refreshments with surplus proceeds going to the charities.
